The Goods
It's a fashion orgy at this Italian men's store, as rich wools
cavort with fine linens and silks. Whether it's for your wedding
day or casual Fridays, Damiani has the perfect ensemble. Suits can
be custom-made or chosen from the hundreds that line the walls.
Silk and sea cotton knits come in a variety of seasonal colors,
with summer's selections offering an explosion of bright blues and
greens. For the more demure dresser, straight-edged flowing shirts
in soft grays, blues and creams embody casual chic.
Sharp-Dressed Man
From ties to cuff links, Damiani understands that it's all in the
details. Quality and expertise has its price, though, and it's not
a particularly low one. In this case, you definitely get what you

clown lamps aside, you never know what you'll find at this
used clothing and furniture warehouse, from a sectional
sofa in yellow and green polka-dots to a Chicago Cubs
"Triple Play" pinball machine. The condition of
pieces varies from good to hanging by a thread. Most of
the sofas scream "slipcover me!" Everything is
sold "as is," which means you can negotiate. On
our trip some decent pieces were to be found, like a plush
burgundy armchair for $120. China sets go for $75-$175.

The
Skinny
Satisfying many a consumer, Urban Outfitters is the mecca
for trend-o-rama clothes for the 14- to 25-year-old set.
The quality in general is pretty poor but, that said, a
good buy can easily be made if you're willing to dig deep.
The Goods
Very cute little T-shirts, lots of patterned skirts, and
vintage Levis--whatever the flavor of the month happens to
be--Urban Outfitters is on top of it, ripping off designs
and selling them to an adoring youthful crowd. |
