The Store-y
Baby Boomers, Generation X-ers and, to some extent, the older folks who stay up watching Nick at Nite go crazy in this place. Multiple racks and shelves ripe with quality finds are crammed into the small corner store on Washington Avenue. Scavenging will take some time, but it's part of the fun. The space is being expanded both to make it more comfortable and to allow them to carry more merchandise.

The Goods
Collections this thorough are rare; you'll be hard-pressed to resist making at least a small purchase. Your favorite pop icons--Superman, H.R. Pufnstuf, Betty Page, Rocky Horror's Frank N. Furter--peer out from assorted magnets, mugs, lunch boxes and T-shirts. Weeblos and Smurfs sit alongside I Dream of Jeannie, PeeWee Herman and Billy (the world's first out and proud boyfriend) dolls. A wide array of wigs, feather boas and stage makeup make Pop the ideal pit stop on Halloween or any day you just need a little extra glam.

Damiani
These Italian designer duds transform you into one of those GQ guys we all (want to) know and love.

Miami, FL 33176-5926
Phone (305) 251-7885
The Goods
It's a fashion orgy at this Italian men's store, as rich wools cavort with fine linens and silks. Whether it's for your wedding day or casual Fridays, Damiani has the perfect ensemble. Suits can be custom-made or chosen from the hundreds that line the walls. Silk and sea cotton knits come in a variety of seasonal colors, with summer's selections offering an explosion of bright blues and greens. For the more demure dresser, straight-edged flowing shirts in soft grays, blues and creams embody casual chic.

Sharp-Dressed Man
From ties to cuff links, Damiani understands that it's all in the details. Quality and expertise has its price, though, and it's not a particularly low one. In this case, you definitely get what you pay for.

Hey, when you want comfort, you go somewhere else. This designer boutique teases you with the flawless styles seen on the runways and inside the pages of slick, glossy magazines. Prices start in the low $100s and hover around the $200-$300 range.

The Goods
Inventory includes delicate, exquisite creations from couture designers like Dolce & Gabbana, DKNY and Richard Tyler, just to name a few. You'll also find upper-crust staples like Charles Jourdan and Donald Pliner. Don't miss the sleek, concave wedge heels from Ecuadorian designer Carlos Molina, which add an extra six inches to your leg!
Douglas Gardens Thrift Shop - Miami

Sad clown lamps aside, you never know what you'll find at this used clothing and furniture warehouse, from a sectional sofa in yellow and green polka-dots to a Chicago Cubs "Triple Play" pinball machine. The condition of pieces varies from good to hanging by a thread. Most of the sofas scream "slipcover me!" Everything is sold "as is," which means you can negotiate. On our trip some decent pieces were to be found, like a plush burgundy armchair for $120. China sets go for $75-$175. --Jackie Potts

The Skinny
Satisfying many a consumer, Urban Outfitters is the mecca for trend-o-rama clothes for the 14- to 25-year-old set. The quality in general is pretty poor but, that said, a good buy can easily be made if you're willing to dig deep.

The Goods
Very cute little T-shirts, lots of patterned skirts, and vintage Levis--whatever the flavor of the month happens to be--Urban Outfitters is on top of it, ripping off designs and selling them to an adoring youthful crowd.
